{A Winter Solstice – Lunar Eclipse}

Last night was the BIG lunar eclipse! And what made it more special was that it landed on the Winter Solstice. The longest night of the year, where the days get shorter until Spring comes… According to National Geographic, it has been since the mid 1600’s since we have had a lunar eclipse like this!

Please forgive the picture quality. It was amazing how quick the weather turned to FREEZING! I couldn’t handle being outside for more than 5-10 minutes at a time {yes, it was THAT cold!}. I put my camera on the tripod, in hopes to get some decent photos. They didn’t turn out too bad. The Earth’s atmosphere causes the moon to change into a “red” color, which thankfully the last photo I took was as good as it was going to get…

Did you get to see the eclipse? Spectacular events only happen once in a lifetime!
