I have successfully surpassed my previous track record for being pregnant. My son was born in the wee early morning hours of the 1st day of my 27th week. My daughter – thankfully is going strong and no problems as of late. I’m having more issues with the gestational diabetes. It’s not all that often that I crave chocolate cake or chocolate chip cookies – but man! Let me tell ya, not so fun when you have a craving you can’t cure. It rather pisses me off. But then again, I don’t want a 20 lbs baby
and list us in the Guiness Book of World Records or anything. It makes it especially hard when we have two different types of diets going on in the house – of which my husband’s mainly consists of carbs, while all my crap is high in protein. I’ve seen so many vegetables in the last 2 weeks to make my head spin. Anyway… Enough about me and my woes.
How your baby’s growing:
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don’t bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.
